The project eProf Stage 17.10. 2007

With the support of the infrastructure developed on the basis of European Union Directives approved in Lund, Sweden in 2001 that can be used for digitising and content servicing of technical works, and, as it is available through the Internet, it makes so called spontaneous learning possible the main target is:

The establishment of a human resources development network in the cleaning industry on market bases, with the help of which a standard schoolbook-management, e-learning and assessment for learning, as well as e-examination system can evolve in a short time, that is sustainable for a long period, unified on a European level, but at the same time takes into account peculiarities by areas and organisations, and is available for everyone on most widely used languages at low cost, is modular, competence-based; its operating; as well as its continuous development. Furthermore, the additional yield of the system is – due first of all to the textbook structuring method used at digitising that discourages the student from printing the material to be learned – the drastic reduction of paper as carrier of knowledge. Accordingly, a corner-stone of the system’s operation is that costs will not exceed those used for printing textbooks so far, and by automation further working processes can be reduced that were performed reluctantly and also their costs with them.

The knowledge database: Basis of the structure of the database is a DACUM table that characterises an area of specialty by what kind of tasks can be on the given area, and how can they be grouped into modules. Elements of the database are shaped in such a way that the system arranges the knowledge from different authors considered necessary for performing the tasks into statements. This methodology system that we call Cognitive Synthesis considers these statements the basic measuring unit for the mass of knowledge at the given area. In the database the arrangement of the statements is structured according to so called Practical Skill. Coding is needed for determining the right reciting order of statements in the database. The statements were formulated by authors. The statements can be texts, images or films, even sound records. The database is such a digital technical book on that level of uploading, which is capable of selecting knowledge by a given author in the case of arbitrarily chosen tasks or task groups. It is accessible through the Internet and can be continuously upgraded with minimum effort.

The test database: It consists of questions formulated by a certain methodology on statements defined in the structure and possible answers, as well as score values for the latter.

The methodology of learning: In this system we imagine learning in a way where the student selects the package of knowledge necessary for him and one or all of the authors of this package of knowledge available for him. In the next step he is informed by the system how many statements the requirement system contains and how much estimated time is needed to learn it. Next the student decides how many tests he wants to fill in monthly in average and how long a course (in months) he prepays. The system calculates the fee of registration and following the payment learning can start. The essence of learning is that the system starts with a test of 10 questions and after filling that in a short evaluation will be set up. To questions answered wrongly the program sends the statement being the base of the question at once. The system has also a certain level of artificial intelligence, i.e. it can measure the input knowledge as well as the result of learning, and according to these it defines the number of questions in the next test. That means, he who gives the right answers on questions, will get ever more questions from the system, but he who doesn’t, will get ever fewer. A course in eLearning consists a number of questions monthly, where the minimum can be 1 test and the maximum can be 31 tests. The length of course can be between a minimum 1 month and a maximum 12 months. At the end of the course a wide evaluation is made up.

The strategy of database uploading: For the launch of the system in the cleaning industry there will be a tender possibility of a 1 thousand million forint (about €4 million) project at the invitation eContentplus of the European Committee this year, within whose framework the activity can start with a 50% non-reimbursable support in a minimum of 20 languages all over Europe simultaneously. According to our current estimates the knowledge base of the cleaning trade can be defined with 3,000 statements, which will serve the formulation of 30,000 questions in the test database. This could create an affordable eLearning system for more than 3 million employees in the cleaning industry and/or a objective personal qualification system, including also guests workers not understanding the language of a given country.

A long-time sustainability of the program: We want to sustain the training and qualification system on market bases, people taking part in operating and upgrading the system will get a certain royalty that is covered by fees paid by the users.
